C03 - Bilingual Narratives
This project seeks to identify patterns of variation in the processing of prominence structures. Through eye-tracking experiments, we investigate how German-Italian and German-English bilingual children aged 8 to 12 integrate morphosyntactic and pragmatic information while reading narratives. We expect that the bilingual children will differ from one another in terms of how sensitively they respond to morphosyntactic and pragmatic information when processing discourse. Possible factors contributing to this variation include cross-linguistic influences, differences in bilingualism profiles, and the children’s individual cognitive abilities.
