I am excited to join the English Seminar I as interim professor of English Literature and Culture in the summer of 2024. I previously worked at the University of Münster, and my main areas of research and teaching include early modern and contemporary British drama, (neo-)Victorian literature and culture, adaptation, as well as gender and queer studies. I am particularly interested in the historical formations of discourses surrounding gender, sexuality, and race, because such questions can help us understand both our relationship with the past and the present. My first monograph, Shakespeare’s Suicides: Dead Bodies That Matter was published by Routledge in 2018, and I recently finished a second book project (Habilitation) on fused negotiations of empire and domesticity in neo-Victorian fiction and film.
